Announcing Synergy/DE 12.3.1.2028, New LTS Update
September 2, 2026Synergy/DE 12.5.1.1007 is the first release in our 12.5 long-term support (LTS) series and Synergex’s third LTS release. It collects the features from the four 12.4 feature releases, distributed between August 2024 and May 2026, into a version with long-term support. Download it from the Synergex Resource Center.
The main features in 12.5 are
- New ISAM revision 6.5. Extend record length and add or remove keys in existing ISAM files without unloading and rebuilding them. Isutl -ka and -kd add and remove keys with exclusive access; for high-cooperative files, hcutl makes these changes while your application continues using the file.
- .NET 10 support. Synergy .NET now targets .NET 10 by default, replacing .NET 6. NuGet packages include both .NET 8 and .NET 10 builds, so .NET 8 projects keep working.
- LTTng tracing on Linux. Use LTTng, the open-source Linux tracing framework, to trace I/O statements such as READ, WRITE, and STORE; license login and logout; and XCALL, %FUNC, and METHOD calls.
- Repository definitions in separate files. Export and import one schema file per structure, file, format, template, and enumeration, or export automatically when you exit Repository. This makes it practical to keep repository definitions in source control.
- Stored procedure return values in SQL Connection. Retrieve return values from SQL Server stored procedures, in addition to output parameters and result sets.
- SQL OpenNet improvements. The SQL OpenNet service now logs whether vtxnetd or vtxnet2 started on each port, and the Synergy Configuration Program shows the service status and recent events, making startup failures easier to spot.
- Standalone Professional Series Workbench installer. Workbench is no longer part of the Synergy/DE 32-bit Windows installation, which keeps runtime installations smaller. If you use Workbench, install it separately.
For the full list of features and fixes in this release, see the Release Notes in the Synergex Resource Center.
Note that 32-bit Linux is not supported in Synergy/DE 12.5. Synergy/DE 12.3 LTS releases will continue to support 32-bit Linux until 12.3’s end-of-support date, March 8, 2028. If you’re on 32-bit Linux, we encourage you to start planning your move to 64-bit.
Synergy/DE 12.5 LTS will be supported for four years (until October 6, 2030), or until one year after the next LTS release, whichever is later. The latest 12.4 feature release (12.4.1.1005) will be supported until January 6, 2027, three months after the release of 12.5. See our Release Strategy page for more details.
Update to 12.5 when it fits your delivery schedule to pick up these features and fixes and start on the 12.5 support cycle.
