ON xfODBC: Synergy/DE xfODBC is helping AgTrax
users create custom reports
Bonnie Tindall can quickly create any type of report for United
Farmers Coop thanks to the Synergy/Debased AgNet Data Program
from AgTrax, in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Featuring Synergy/DE xfODBC, the program allows AgTrax
users like Tindall to extract data from the coop's grain accounting
software and create customized reportssuch as patronage
check register, prepaid/booking, and chemical salesin
programs such as Excel, Word, or Crystal Reports.
"I can customize, design, and sort any report the way
I want," says Tindall, who provides Web/systems support
for the coop's 19 facilities. "This is very helpful when
you're working with as many products as we have as well as
with all the sales personnel, marketing personnel, and accounting
personnel."
For example, Tindall imported all of the sales data for the
company's last fiscal year into an Excel file where she filtered
and sorted the information. She was then able to give an agronomy
manager specific sales information on specific chemicals.
Tindall says she's also used AgNet to build a customer database
within the company's Web site.
AgNet also saves her time and prevents errors associated with
manually entering information into a spreadsheet.
Not everyone is going to want the same information out of
an accounting software package, she says. This product lets
her customize the data, without needing AgTrax to develop
new reports.
"I think it's a time savings for them as well,"
Tindall says.

TECH TIP: How to change prompt renditions in Synergy/DE UI
Toolkit
Question:
We would like to change the color of prompts when they are
clicked in our UI Toolkit application. How can I change a
prompt's renditions?
Answer:
Although you can use the UI Toolkit routine I_FLDMOD to change
the font for a prompt, you must use the Synergy Language routine
W_FLDS to change any other setting that affects a prompt's
appearance. To use W_FLDS, you'll need the low-level field
number for the prompt, which you can get with I_FLDINF. (This
number is in gs_promptfld, which is defined in fldinf.def.)
For instance, to change a prompt's color, use W_FLDS with
the WF_COLOR function as in the following example, which sets
a prompt to the color specified in Synergy color palette entry
10.
xcall
i_fldinf(inp_id, field_name, , ,gs_inpfld)
xcall w_flds(inp_id, WF_COLOR, gs_promptfld, 10)
For information
on W_FLDS, see the "Windowing Subroutines" chapter
of the Synergy
Language Reference Manual. For information on I_FLDINF,
see the "Input Subroutines" chapter of the UI
Toolkit Reference Manual.
